TUESDAY: Harvesters Sort and Repack
Harvesters' Kansas City Facility
3801 Topping Ave, Kansas City, MO 64129, USA
8/8/23, 6:15 PM
Ages 8+ are welcome to join AnySchoolers in giving back to the community!
Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 760 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others. They also offer education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about good nutrition.Â
We can help with their mission by volunteering at their warehouse! We will likely be working in their Food Repacking Zone, repackaging bulk items for distribution. This room stays at 60-65 degrees. Dress in layers and bring a jacket, even in summer. We will need to wash our hands and wear PPE (masks, gloves, and hairnets). All participants will need to wear long pants and shoes with a closed toe and heel. Â Â All volunteers must be free of any contagious illness (cold, flu, runny nose, strep throat, etc.) Â Â
Volunteers are encouraged to bring a donation of kid-friendly food, such as cereal, granola bars, fruit cups, and 100% fruit juice; whole grain and low sugar items are preferred.
The $1 per person  is a small attendance accountability fee and will be a donation to Harvesters (501c3 non-profit organization).  Hard times? Email anyschoolers@gmail.com for a special code for a free ticket to this event, as long as you guarantee your attendance. This is not a drop off event and a parent or adult guardian will be required to participate.
Registration for this event will close on August 1st so we can report our volunteer numbers to Harvesters one week in advance.Â
