CALENDAR
Want to add an event yourself?
-
To ADD A FREE EVENT or MEET-UP, hover over the date on the calendar and click the plus sign ( + ) when it appears. On a desktop view, there is also a plus ( + ) sign on the top menu of the calendar (alllllll the way on the right hand side). Examples of events that qualify for "free" or "meet up" are park dates, meet ups at places that are "pay at the door" or have existing family memberships like zoos, children's museums, etc., free field trips, or other events that you need an RSVP for because of group number limits, supplies, or just knowing who is coming.
-
Absolutely NO events may be held in residential homes at this time for both the safety of the homeowner and the attendees. If a residence operates as a business (such as a microfarm or onsite art studio), the homeowner must have proof of liability insurance.
-
Absolutely NO events are drop off (i.e. parent leave the site)for minors under 16 years old. If teens are 16 years old with a valid full drivers' licenses (not provisional), teens may drive themselves to activities. Adult supervision must be provided by the adult submitting the event. If a teen is submitting an event for other teens (for example a coffee meet up or D&D game time), an adult must be identified as the point of contact and supervisor, on behalf of or with the teen.
-

Why use our website for events?
We often have the discussion with parents: why should I use your website instead of just asking people to reimburse me for fees on Venmo or another cash app? Why should I put my activity under an umbrella like AnySchoolers when I can just do it as an event on a social media platform (Facebook, for example)? Here's a quick read on our volunteer and veteran schooling parents' thoughts on this:
-
Your participants get a tax deduction out of the activity. Schooling (home, world, road, forest, farm, fine arts, etc) families receive a tax deduction for educational activities that their children participate in through AnySchoolers. By using the AnySchoolers website for registrations, all of their fees collected are documented in the families' user accounts (when they log in to AnySchoolers.com) in a simple, easy-to-access way. The documentation of payments made to an educational nonprofit organization can be submitted with tax filings each year.
-
Oversight is not bad. Many parents who have left the traditional school system are weary of oversight---in a word, anti-establishment---and we are too. Understandable. There's a difference between systemic containment, power, and control; and accountability, reciprocity, and safety. By using the system on our website, you are signaling to other families that they are safe to engage with you because there's a vetting process involved. We require onsite supervision, we don't allow residential activities for child protection and liability protection. We believe that in a system of mutual altruism and reciprocity, we are all accountable to one another for basic safety and respect. That's what AnySchoolers provides as a grassroots platform.
-
AnySchoolers is a registered 501-c-3 and qualifies for group or nonprofit benefits from businesses that a "group of individuals" cannot receive. We are parents too. The only difference is we did the busy work of filing the nonprofit and maintaining its status year to year, so that you can benefit. We cross all the T's and dot the i's, while providing only basic safety oversight and connection to other secular, inclusive families that school their children in a variety of ways.
-
Move away from social media. Yea... we said what we said. User information and registration is safer when kept in a PPI- protected account. On Facebook or other social media platforms, anyone can see you, what you signed up for and where you're going with your kids, who your kids are, and more. Facebook is tracking your every click and view. This is just safer. Period. Sorry not sorry.

Last, but definitely the best for you, we take care of the monies for you. This can help protect you from burning out on organizing activities. We collect the funds and distribute with documentation. AnySchoolers files the taxes for the income to its website. You don't have to worry about others using the "right" wording for money transfers, keeping receipts, the IRS asking questions (and taking up your valuable time) about large exchanges of cash in your Venmo account. You don't have to chase down people who haven't paid you yet or match up Venmo/Paypal usernames with Facebook profiles that messaged you. The benefits of this go on... bookkeeping, providing receipts, paying venues, efficiency... Time is valuable.
